Good news for Windows 8 users: the official Facebook app is finally coming to users of the Microsoft platform, as The Verge reports. This development comes the same day that Windows 8.1 update will become available.

Microsoft confirmed that the app was on its way — when speaking at its Build developer conference in San Francisco in June — and now users can go get it from the store.
Windows 8 already has a native Twitter app, and there’s more to come since Microsoft also confirmed that Flipboard is among the other social services that will be supported by a native Windows 8 client.
The link is live now for some, but we’ve had issues accessing it so you may need to be patient as it rolls out. Adding to that, Engadget says the app is initially only available to those with the full RTM version of Windows 8.1, and will not be fully released for all users until Windows 8.1 goes live later today.
